The Qantas Group's main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.Job DescriptionChallenge yourself & add significant value to Qantas GroupExciting opportunity within our Data and Streaming Analytics teamPermanent role working at our Mascot head office (hybrid working options available)As a Software Engineer in our Data and Streaming Analytics team, you'll be responsible for the development, maintenance and operational support of the systems that power our business unit. You will be involved in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle, solving customer or business problems through innovation and application of best practice software development techniques, including agile and lean thinking.You'll HaveAt least 4 years' experience as a software engineer or similar role (preferred)Experience with Confluent Kafka components like Cloud Kafka, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and KSQLDB is desiredProficiency in Java for building Kafka producers and consumersExposure to Bash scripting for automation and system tasksExperience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioningFamiliarity with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelinesExperience deploying and managing Kafka, Kafka Connect and KSQLDBStrong knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS InfrastructureStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skillsExcellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholdersKnowledge in Linux system administrationSkills in optimizing Kafka performance, resource management and troubleshooting.Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog is beneficialAwareness of Kafka security best practices (e.g. encryption, authentication) or a willingness to learnFamiliarity with Google Cloud Platform or Azure.Qantas is an Equal Opportunity Employer, so by coming to work for us, you'll be part of an organisation that encourages diversity, supports charities and environmental initiatives.
