Job Summary: The candidate will be responsible for developing sensors, instruments and data logging and acquisition systems used for monitoring buildings, mines, bridges, and geotechnical structures.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in electronics and electrical engineering, with expertise in designing data acquisition, data loggers, sensors, and precision monitoring tools.
Experience in design and prototyping Vibrating Wire sensors is particularly sought after.
Additionally, the ability to manage team members and delegate tasks effectively among engineers to carry out R&D activities is essential.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: Design sensors, instruments, data convertors, data loggers, data acquisition, acceleration measuring system and associated electronic circuits, including power sources, and data/command distribution systems for civil and geotechnical applications. Develop automation and control systems, as well as electronic boards, for applications such as building automation, mining, and road traffic management. Design and implement embedded software to be used in developed instruments, data loggers and data acquisitions. Design and implement PC applications to communicate with, control, and monitor the data loggers and acquisition systems mentioned above. Design and implement calibration procedures for the sensors, instruments, data loggers and data acquisitions. Design signal conditioning/processing stages (e.g., utilizing active/passive filtering/amplification, noise reduction, FFT, … in vibrating wire sensor measuring circuits) to refine and reconstruct signal for measuring stages. Perform maintenance and repair of faulty sensors and logging systems as needed. Design high level communication protocols for data transfer, on top of various standard communication protocols (wireless and wired). Coordinate with a team of engineers and manage projects to ensure seamless integration of electrical components in newly developed systems. Ensure that designs comply with applicable standards and codes. Oversee project conception, design, and specifications, while managing, scheduling, cost estimation, and procurement of materials for client orders and supervising installation and commissioning of all above mentioned individual instruments, systems and the relevant communication and monitoring/management hardware/software tools. Prepare technical documents, manuals, and user guides for products. Engage in training team to conduct training sessions for clients who purchase the products, as well as for new team members to facilitate smooth onboarding. Skill and Experience Requirements: MSc in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from reputable universities. At least 3 years of industrial experience in instruments, data logger and data acquisition design and prototyping/manufacturing. Ability to design hardware with Microchip PIC MCUs and TI MCUs. Extensive experience with software tools for PCB design such as "Altium Designer". Proficiency in developing software in popular programming languages. In-depth knowledge of vibrating wire sensors and data acquisition systems. Experience with various communication protocols including but not limited to Modbus, LIN, HTTP, SCADA and TCP/IP.
