ALS provides the solutions required to maximise the inherent value of coal products.ALS assesses and ranks coal product physical handling, blend propensity, and every element of performance and behaviour to provide an accurate picture of product marketability and value-in-use.The PositionAs a Quality, Safety, and Training Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and safety within the analytical laboratory. Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities include maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and NATA ISO 17025 standards, managing training systems, and inducting new employees. You will promote the "Safety First" culture, ensuring adherence to ALS HSE systems and relevant legislation while investigating and reporting workplace incidents. Success in this role requires strong laboratory experience, knowledge of ISO standards, proficiency in LIMS and Excel, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a keen attention to detail.The day to dayMaintain, update and ensure compliance to the quality system ISO 9001 and NATA ISO 17025 Accreditation.Maintain, update and ensure compliance with training system requirements for the analytical laboratory.Induction of new employees into the business.Maintain and ensure site compliance to ALS HSE systems.Working in conjunction with Laboratory Management to promote and maintain the ALS culture of "Safety First".Educating and maintaining staff awareness on appropriate safety issues.Ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and company policies.Investigating, reporting and submitting recommendations for consideration on workplace incidents to the respective Manager and Management.The EssentialsTertiary qualification in science is preferred but not essential.Demonstrated laboratory experience ideal.Knowledge of ISO 17025 and NATA general requirements for accreditation.Certificate IV in training and assessing would be an advantage.Certificate IV in OH&S (preferable) or suitable experience.High-level understanding of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).Intermediate level of understanding of Excel applications and spreadsheets.Good organisation and communication skills.Attention to detail.Time management skills and flexibility in daily routines.Our benefits include:Health fund discounts with Bupa.Opportunity to salary sacrifice car costs with Autopia.Corporate superannuation benefits with Australian Retirement Trust.Online learning system with extensive modules of choice.Friendly working environment with accessible management.Influenza vaccinations.Opportunities to progress and develop your career within ALS, including global opportunities for suitable candidates.Everyone mattersALS is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where the strengths and perspectives of each employee are both recognised and valued.EligibilityTo be eligible to work at ALS you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required, including drug and alcohol assessment.How to applyPlease apply online and provide a cover letter and CV that best demonstrate your motivation and ability to meet the requirements of this role.
