Principal Consultant - Workplace Relations (Fixed Term - 12 months) Join Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) as a Principal Consultant in Workplace Relations, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality employee and industrial relations support.
As a key member of our People and Culture Directorate, you'll provide strategic advice on complex workplace matters, including dispute resolution, enterprise bargaining, and compliance with legal obligations.

About the Role This fixed term (12 months) key position within FRV's Workplace Relations team, responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on employee and industrial relations matters.
As the Principal Consultant, you will manage complex issues, support strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with legal and industrial obligations, contributing to a positive and effective workplace.
Functional Accountabilities include: Provide high-level strategic advice on workplace relations, including case management of complex individual matters.
Manage and report on employee and industrial relations trends, identifying areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with industrial instruments and mitigate operational risks through collaboration with key stakeholders.
Proactively build relationships with unions, industry associations, and regulators to support positive outcomes.
Prepare submissions and represent FRV in employment and industrial matters before tribunals and courts.
What you will need to Succeed To be successful in this position, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or related discipline and/or proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
Demonstrated experience in industrial relations in a complex environment.
Highly developed oral and written communication and negotiation skills, and ability to write in a clear and unambiguous manner.
Demonstrated experience providing high level technical advice (employment/industrial relations).
Demonstrated experience managing and engaging with individual employees, their representatives and organisational stakeholders.
Ability to monitor and analyse industrial/workplace issues, trends, case law and legislative change.

FRV's standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
