The successful candidate will also be offered a professorial appointment in an appropriate discipline in the school and will retain that position at the conclusion of their headship.
Drive the School of Computer Science's academic teaching, learning, and research outcomes in alignment with Faculty of Engineering's strategic goals.
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications will be offered.
About the opportunity
The Head of School is a key leader within the Faculty Leadership, responsible for steering the school's leadership team and for setting, communicating and achieving faculty strategy and goals at school level.
The Head of School plays a crucial role in aligning school objectives with university policies and standards while fostering a positive cultural environment and full adherence to the University's values of trust, accountability and excellence.
Key responsibilities include ensuring highest quality in teaching and research outcomes, maintaining accreditation standards, enhancing the student experience, and meeting financial targets.
The Head of School has formal financial and people management delegations, ensuring effective decision-making to maintain financial sustainability.
The Head of School leads the recruitment, appointment, development and retention of talented staff, while promoting the school's, faculty's and university's reputation for excellence and its national and international academic standing.
The Head of School is also responsible for risk management and compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
The Head of School demonstrates and promotes the values of the University in relation to its people and culture.
About you
We are seeking a candidate with a wide network of established relationships across key academic, industry, and professional institutions, as well as a deep understanding of the higher education sector and its strategic challenges.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in financial and operational management, along with the skills to lead and support a wide range of academic initiatives, from curriculum design and delivery to advanced research.
A strong background in people leadership and talent development within higher education is essential for success in this role.
PhD qualifications and a highly recognised international academic and professional standing in a relevant academic field are required.
