The high performing collaborative team is responsible for the administration of the Tobacco Products Control Act 2006 and regulating the sale and supply of tobacco products across Western Australia. As Scientific Officer you will be responsible for investigating matters and taking appropriate enforcement action, making robust and well-reasoned decisions relating to licence applications, providing recommendations on legislative matters and assisting with other public health regulation functions. A portion of this role is field based, with some regional travel required. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/01/2027.Position Profile: This position works in a small, high-performing team that is primarily responsible for administering the Tobacco Products Control Act 2006. You will be responsible for undertaking investigations and taking appropriate enforcement action; making robust and well-reasoned decisions relating to licence applications; and engaging with other government officials, business representatives, and members of the public.
