Description Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Project Engineer – Systems who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Perth, Australia.
We have a significant order book for the delivery and ongoing maintenance and improvement of ETCS based signalling systems. In addition, we are bidding on many opportunities within the Australian Rail sector across the entire country encompassing both CBTC and ETCS rail signalling systems and associated infrastructure.
We need people with experience in project engineering/engineering management in rail systems and signalling, along with experience in real-time system engineering, testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques. Experience in the delivery of projects into a brownfield environment is also required.
Key Responsibilities: Planning of engineering activities in conjunction with Project Manager, system and subsystem design teamsDesign management and reviewEngineering change managementEngineering risk reviews and status reportingTechnical approvalsConfiguration managementSystems engineeringLifecycle managementEnsuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvementEnsuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of safetySkills & Experience: A degree in engineering or equivalent (Systems, Software Engineering, Communications, Electronics, Computer Science)10+ years of hands-on experience in the rail industrySignificant commercial experience working in complex, multi-discipline engineering projects including phases of design, procurement, construction, commissioning.Experience in the following areas of project management: Customer management, scheduling, planning, critical path analysis, change management, risk management, cost estimationExperience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniquesHighly motivated, with excellent leadership, organisational, communication and people skillsAgile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work and lead in a multicultural environmentAt Hitachi Rail, we know that a diverse business is a sustainable business.
