About the role Your previous experience will ensure you will excel in providing geotechnical expertise and support to the Integrated Planning and Underground Mining Departments whilst conducting geotechnical engineering design, inspection and analysis related to stope stability, underground infrastructure, and underground development.
Your responsibilities will include: Ensuring all controls to manage Underground Mine global stability, rockfall and inrush risks are effectiveCollaborate with the open pit geotechnical team to manage shared geotechnical risks to Cowal Gold OperationsEnsure the Ground Control Management Plan is implementedConduct field observations and visits to verify that work performed complies with standards and Safe Work PracticesBe proactive in identifying, reporting, and seeking rectification of hazards and eliminating risk taking behaviours or actionsMaintain a positive attitude towards safety in the workplace and increase safety awareness, lead safety training, and set an example for othersProvide geotechnically sound solutions for stope design and underground development design.Assist the Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer with providing geotechnically sound solutions for stope sequencing, underground infrastructure design, and portal designConduct data collection, data storage, and modelling activities to maintain the Underground structural model and enable risk management to be effectiveUtilise geotechnical analysis software to predict geotechnical conditions which may develop into hazardsCollaborate with underground engineers to manage stope stability and recoveryAttend underground daily production meetings and provide geotechnical input for the benefit of the production teamAssist the Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer in the management of geotechnical projectsAbout you Our ideal candidate is a passionate Geotechnical Engineer who enjoys working in a highly skilled, stable professional team, where you will have the opportunity to contribute and achieve successful outcomes for the business.
You will require the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Mining / Geoscience / Civil with major in Geomechanics or equivalentDemonstrated experience in a similar role in underground mining or civil tunnellingWorking understanding of safety systems, geotechnical controls, and mining operationsWorking knowledge of all legislative and regulatory requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a broad range of teams and personnel backgroundsExcellent relationship building skills and can influence people of all backgroundsFlexibility to operate in a dynamic work environmentSelf-directed to achieve individual, team and organisational goalsWell-developed analytical and communication skillsThe ability to initiate and effect change and achieve required resultsAdaptability to regularly meet tight deadlines and shift priorities when necessaryTechnical skills in geotechnical modelling and CAD softwareCompetent user of MS Office toolsAt Evolution, as our name suggests, change and transformation is in our DNA.
