DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world's most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems.
Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.
With an approximately $1bn market capitalisation and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
There are approximately 160 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026.
Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking a Software Architect with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW.
The position will report to the VP of Embedded Systems.
The primary focus of the role is to work with existing software engineering teams to ensure software solutions are well designed, testable and fit for purpose.
You will work closely with the software engineering and embedded teams to design new software systems and to address issues with existing systems, by promoting best practices and implementing processes within teams to improve software quality.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
Design and lead the architecture for distributed linux-based systems Drive software development processes, best practices, and tools throughout the development lifecycle Collaborate with multiple smaller teams of software engineers Documentation of software architecture, processes, and policies Work with the engineering team to ensure reliable and robust end-to-end system operation Provide guidance and mentorship to team members Qualifications, Experience and Skills
BS degree in Computer Science, Software, Electronic Engineer or similar field of study or equivalent practical experience Minimum 5 years of software development experience Minimum 3 years' experience working with microservices Exposure to microservices architecture Experienced in large-scale software development Proficient in Python, C++, Go Development tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, and CICD pipelines Experience in architecture design for scalable software solutions Understanding of CICD pipelines in a distributed system environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
