Betashares Direct has ambitions to become a true 'one-stop platform' to help Australians invest and save for retirement in Australia.We are looking for someone with a passion and empathy for designing and engineering high quality customer focused products. This is an opportunity to join our core platform engineering team at Betashares Direct and be a key person in delivering core platform strategy and technology.This is a backend focused role and you will be part of a highly collaborative team that is responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of backend services and infrastructure. You will be empowered to build and maintain cutting edge technology to power the Betashares Direct wealth platform that will be the envy of the financial services industry. You will work closely with other business units within the company to ensure that technology is aligned to the business objectives.Role ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and maintain backend services and infrastructure.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering patterns and practices.Contribute to technical solution designs and architecture.Work in an agile team and iteratively design products.Actively participate in code review process by submitting and reviewing pull requests.Work closely with UX Designers and Product Managers and come up with solutions on how best to build features.Work closely with other business divisions (e.g. Product & Design, Super, Support, Operations, Management) to align technology with business objectives.Develop a technology capacity to unlock a high-cadence, albeit risk aware, feature and product development function.Ensure that Betashares technology stack is scalable, secure and able to handle exponential growth.Ensure that the applications built are secure and protect customer information.Ownership of core platform technology decisions, including staying abreast of emerging and best practice technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.Help to build Betashares' reputation as a technology leader externally, as well as a great reputation for creating financial products with great customer experiences.Assist the team in creating new & innovative products, and embolden an innovative culture with the team.Assist with inorganic growth pre and post transaction.Build in house tooling to support the engineering team with DevOps.Skills & ExperienceProven track record of building, releasing, and supporting complex, performant, back-end service applications in production.8+ years hands-on experience developing backend services and infrastructure.Experience architecting applications in cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP or Azure).Exposure to architecture patterns such as event driven and microservices.Exposure to Golang, Rust, and Elixir is beneficial.Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI & DevOps.Exposure to financial accounting is beneficial.Exposure to creating and designing distributed systems.Able to work with SQL and manage databases.Able to work with Linux, Docker and containerisation technology.Reasons To Join UsWhat We OfferContinuous career development and training opportunities.Access to a health and wellbeing platform with physical, mental, social and financial support programs available.Volunteering days off, so you can contribute to a cause that matters to you.Conveniently located CBD offices with fully stocked kitchens, team breakfasts and catered lunches on a regular basis.Fun and inclusive social events.Our ValuesAs our business continues to grow, we're committed to creating a workplace that gives us all the best opportunity to succeed, and that is enjoyable to be a part of.
