The principal functions of the Director of Public Prosecutions are to institute, prepare and conduct criminal cases on behalf of the Crown before the Supreme Courts and the Local Courts of the Northern Territory and the High Court of Australia.  The Office of Public Prosecutions invite applications from experienced and suitably qualified criminal lawyers, and those legal professionals who are eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court or of a Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
The Office has a number of immediate vacancies at the P1 levels and maintains a talent pool of successful applicants to select from for future appointments.
These are challenging yet rewarding roles, your comprehensive knowledge of and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure and your advocacy and advanced communication skills will ensure the delivery of a professional criminal prosecution service to the people of the Northern Territory.  Professional 1 Your primary objective will be to provide the people of the Northern Territory of Australia with an independent and professional criminal prosecution service.
P1 Key duties:  Instruct in Supreme Court trials and hearings, maintain carriage of criminal prosecutions and provide quality legal advice.
Essential Criteria:  High level communication and advocacy skills, knowledge of and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure including Uniformed Evidence Law.
