About the opportunity InsideOut is Australia's national institute for research, translation and clinical excellence in eating disorders.
With resources, rigour and perseverance we aim to transform the landscape for people with eating disorders in this country, and ultimately find a cure.
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Developer to join InsideOut Institute's digital team.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by contributing to the development of our digital projects.
Here are just a few examples of what you could be working on:
An online clinic with therapy modules and monitoring tools.
The InsideOut eClinic provides people with eating disorders access to evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in an engaging, personal and scalable way.A self-monitoring app that enables individuals with eating disorders to track their food, thoughts, feelings, and behaviours while receiving feedback from clinicians.A data collection platform for individuals with eating disorders to share their experiences in creative ways, such as drawing pictures, submitting audio, responding to prompts, or completing surveys.An online hub for General Practitioners to access evidence-based information about eating disorders, including an algorithm that assists them in making a diagnosis and directs them to the best treatment options.An online learning platform that delivers eLearning courses globally and manages in-person training sessions across Australia.In this role, you'll enjoy the creative freedom to shape architectural design, bring your ideas to life, and oversee software deployments from start to finish.
Your contributions will play a crucial role in developing solutions that support meaningful, real-world impacts in the mental health field.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Lead the development of critical software applications to meet project objectives.Design complex systems that optimise performance, reliability, and scalability.Plan and execute software deployments for seamless and timely releases.Collaborate with product managers and researchers to translate user requirements into effective digital platforms.Maintain high standards of code quality, implement testing methodologies, and ensure comprehensive technical documentation.Contribute to the digital transformation roadmap by adopting new technologies and refining existing systems.Ensure compliance with university guidelines and prioritize workplace health and safety.About you Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g Computer Science) or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Proven expertise in programming and scripting languages.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.Proven experience in web-based application development using a broad range of technologies.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Project management expertise and attention to detail.Demonstrable ability to deliver solutions in an Agile / Scrum environment.What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Each day at InsideOut brings a mix of coding, collaboration, and problem-solving.
You might:
Work closely with product managers, clinicians, and researchers to refine features or develop new tools that support mental health treatment and research.Spend time coding and debugging, ensuring the applications are efficient, scalable, and secure.Guide the digital development team through testing, execution, and troubleshooting of software deployment.What Does the InsideOut Digital Team Look Like? Our digital team currently includes two project managers, two internal developers, two external developers, and a QA specialist.
We operate within the InsideOut Institute, which is divided into six teams: Research, Clinical, Service Development & Policy, Federal, Admin, and Communications.
We work closely with these teams to design and deliver technology solutions that support the identification and treatment of eating disorders, support research data collection and analysis, and educate the workforce and wider public about eating disorders.
