We offer flexible and hybrid work options and genuinely care about providing our staff work/life balance.About the roleThe Urban Planning Unit is seeking an experienced, confident and autonomous statutory planner to join the team. You'll assess a range of proposals including significant apartment and mixed-use developments and ministerial enquiries, while assisting the Planning Coordinator and Unit Manager in responding to requests from all internal and external stakeholders associated with the planning process. Working in a political and regulatory environment, your sound planning knowledge and problem-solving skills will see you resolve complex matters, enabling you to present accurate and fearless planning recommendations. Within this role you will be required to coach and mentor staff, including the supervision of up to two Urban Planners.Skills and experience required to perform the roleRelevant tertiary qualifications in town planning or a related discipline together with significant relevant planning experience.An advanced understanding and working knowledge in the field of statutory planning.In-depth knowledge of the Victorian Planning & Environment Act 1987.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and effectively interpret complex planning policy.Track record in operating within a political and regulatory environment.Ability to explain planning policy and present recommendations to audiences such as residents, Councillors, other officers and VCAT.Demonstrated commitment to processes improvement and enhancement of planning functions.Demonstrated ability to work as a highly effective team member with the ability to lead and motivate staff.Well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills.Commitment to excellence in customer service.What the role can offerMonthly RDOExtensive opportunities for training & career developmentSalary sacrifice optionsA real sense of work-life balance & flexible work optionsEmployer-supported study assistance schemesWellness programsHow to applyPlease fill out an application using our online recruitment system.
