Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer - Environmental RegulationYour new companyThe Airport Environment Branch (AEB)'s primary responsibility is the regulation of 21 leased federal airports on Commonwealth land. The Branch administers the Airports Act 1996, its associated regulations and the airport head leases. We are looking to hire several experienced environmental professionals to join the Branch's Per- and Poly-fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Airports Investigation Program. The candidate can be based anywhere in Australia.Your new roleSupport the team and especially the Assistant Director (Compliance) on strategic and technical airport environmental regulation compliance issues.Interpret and apply legislation consistently and accurately to support complex, sound, and timely decisions, including:Airports Act 1996 (with primary responsibility for Part 6)Airports (Environmental Protection) Regulations 1997 (primary responsibility)Airports Regulations 2024 (secondary responsibility)Airports (Building Control) Regulations 1996 (secondary responsibility)Enforce regulatory compliance while engaging appropriately with risk.Apply critical thinking to the review of regulations, new and existing guidelines and procedures to inform compliance and policy decision making.Provide proactive technical input to inform policy and regulatory matters to maintain high quality.Under supervision, conduct a stocktake to update and maintain a register of compliance actions taken under the regulations, including relevant supporting documents and procedures.Under supervision, provide advice on compliance and enforcement matters to internal and external stakeholders that is consistent with the relevant legislation, internal policies and departmental risk appetite.Working with managers and technical experts develop and maintain robust guidance material and templates that reflect any new regulations and are consistent with the outcomes of any compliance stocktake/review.What you'll need to succeedQualifications in Environmental Science, a similar environmental discipline, or Law.
