We are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for a Principal Advisor Strategy & Advocacy to lead the City's corporate strategy and advocacy initiatives and advance the City's strategic objectives.
In this role, you'll facilitate planning, drive policy development, and lead the City's advocacy efforts to secure external funding and political support for strategic initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager Business, Strategy & Advocacy, this unique role requires a blend of strategic foresight, stakeholder engagement, and exceptional communication skills to navigate political and organisational landscapes.

A snapshot of your new role: Lead the City's corporate strategy planning, reporting, and reviews, ensuring compliance with legislative and internal requirements.Oversee the City's advocacy portfolio, driving collaboration and external funding opportunities.Develop and present policy positions, advocacy statements, and submissions that support the City's strategic goals.Cultivate relationships with politicians and City service areas to build alignment and momentum for strategic priorities.Facilitate strategic initiatives and continuous business improvement projects.Prepare and present reports and discussion papers to Council, Committees or other forums.What you will bring to the role: A strategic thinker with advanced research, analytical, and policy development skills.Proven advocacy skills to educate, influence and negotiate with stakeholders from all levels.A strong understanding and appreciation of corporate strategy planning and reporting.Exceptional interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver timely outcomes.Strong track record in successful stakeholder engagement.Why you will love working at the City: A unique opportunity that drives the strategic direction and advocacy efforts of the City.Permanent, full-time role.Monthly rostered day off.$114,540.30 - $128,640.43 per annum + super.17.5% paid Annual Leave Loading for when you take annual leave.We match super contributions to help you save for your future.Discounted health insurance, free flu vaccinations, skin checks and other well-being events.Free confidential Employee Assistance Program for personal and professional support.Genuine commitment to learning and development.Membership to Canning and Riverton Leisureplexes (gym, aquatics, sauna, group fitness).Impact the Community in a Big Way: The City of Canning aims to be a welcoming and thriving city, giving our people an opportunity to thrive through work that truly makes a difference
