Head Of Programs

Objective: The objective of the Head of the Programs is to ensure the successful delivery of SEDA projects, delivering on time and within budget, and meeting customer requirements.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will lead the program management, systems engineering, and specialist engineering functions including R&D within the business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE: Significant experience in Program ManagementDemonstrated recent experience at the Project Director level of a complex portfolio of programs or projectsDefence industry business-related experience in Australia and/or New ZealandDemonstrated experience leading and managing a business teamAdvanced use of Information Management systems and toolsDemonstrated history of developing and maintaining good working relationships with customers and suppliers, preferably in the defence sectorTertiary qualification in Project Management or EngineeringDemonstrated experience in a complex and regulated delivery environment (program and technical)Experience in defence procurement (ASDEFCON contracting principles)Demonstrated experience with complex management tools i.e.
Earned Value Management Systems, OPP, and COBRAPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1Strong written and oral communication skillsProactive, Autonomous, Rigorous, OrganisedInterest in advanced technologiesStrong work ethicWilling and able to travel either internationally, nationally, and/or locallyRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Represent the Programs Department on the Senior Management TeamContribute the Program Department input to the development and delivery of the SEDA Strategic, Mid Term and Short Term PlansDevelop and manage the Programs Department operational plan in support of the strategic plan including financial, program, technical, infrastructure, and tools to meet revenue and gross margin objectivesDevelop and maintain Programs Department performance reporting practicesDevelop and implement Programs Department processes, procedures, and work instructionsLead and manage the WHS and Environmental practices within the Programs DepartmentSupport internal and external process auditsManage the cost-effective delivery of the programs under management including planning, reporting, risk, and issue management across the portfolio of programsManage the programs team including allocation to programs, performance management, professional development, and support to individuals within the departmentAssign project team members and other resources to ensure project requirements are met, including but not limited to:Program ManagementSystems Engineering (hardware and software)ILS and other specialist engineering functionsScheduling and reportingInfrastructure, tools, and productsUndertaking make/buy decisions as necessaryBuild and maintain internal and external customer and supplier relationshipsProvide support to the Sales & Marketing team including:Provision of agreed resources to support the bidWorking with internal SEDA teams, SED, and other suppliers to define scope, schedule, risks, and costs for bidsSupport contract negotiationsDevelop and implement near term, mid-term, and long term technology plans for infrastructure, tools, and SEDA productsAnd any other duties as defined by SEDA managementFrom time to time as dictated by job requirements, be prepared to undertake travel internationally or domesticallyAll tasks listed above shall be performed in accordance with Quality Standards and applicable processes in place at Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia.
