Our client is a fast-growing gold exploration company in Western Australia, focused on the exploration for economic deposits of precious metals with the objective of progressing discoveries through to profitable mining operations, the emphasis has been gold focused exploration and mine development studies on the Company principal project located near Leonora.
Its recent successful fund raising will help increase its momentum as it moves through the project cycle and hence the requirements for this new position. The Role The Assistant Study Manager is a critical role within the owner's team, responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management, as they move towards a successful PFS for their mining project.
The Assistant Study Manager will then ensure that the study stays on track, within budget, and is completed on time, by implementing effective control systems and processes.
Key responsibilities include: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, establishing project milestones, deliverables, and timelines and monitoring progress against the project schedule, identifying and addressing any deviations.Develop and implement cost control systems to monitor project expenditures and work with the Financial Manager to prepare and manage the project budget.Track and report on project costs, ensuring alignment with the budget and identify and analyse cost variances, implementing corrective actions as necessary.Identify potential project risks and develop comprehensive risk management plans.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project progress and performance.Prepare regular progress reports and conduct variance analysis on project performance and recommend corrective actions.Coordinate with technical leads, financial managers, and other team members to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines and facilitate regular project meetings to review progress, address issues, and update schedules.Requirements This role requires a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in project control within mining and associated industries, with a proven track record of involvement with large-scale studies.
The successful candidate will be proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and financial management tools, with a strong understanding of project control methodologies and best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are needed, with the ability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions.
This role will be based in both office and field environments and often requires extended hours and flexibility to address project needs.
