Permanent full-time position Monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO) Personal and professional development encouraged A supportive workplace with great flexibility and a focus on wellbeing Join Open Space Planning & Design Team as a Senior Open Space Officer at Banyule City Council.
The Open Space Planning and Design team works collaboratively across Council to create well maintained, liveable open spaces where Banyule's local character and environment is protected and enhanced.
They are responsible for strategic planning, design and development of Council's public realm such as parks, reserves, playgrounds and trail networks that improve the urban and natural landscape.
About the Role: As Senior Open Space Officer, you will be responsible for the following: Undertake senior strategic planning and projects for Council's public open space and associated facilities.
Facilitate collaboration opportunities to foster relationships within the organisation and industry.
Provide specialist advice and feedback to ensure the delivery of Banyule's parks and open spaces to set our city to be a thriving climate resilient and liveable city.
Skills, experience and certificates: Degree or diploma in parks urban design, planning, landscape architecture, urban design or other discipline relevant to the planning of public open space and/or extensive relevant experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated experience in the management and delivery of diverse projects including demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing consultants, delivering effective results.
Proven high-level analytical and conceptual skills and demonstrated experience in solving complex issues related to open space networks and environmental management.
Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing organisation-wide policies.
Exceptional writing skills, ideally with experience writing Council reports, policies or similar.
Well-developed stakeholder consultation and engagement skills, with the ability to design and undertake effective consultation plans with internal and external stakeholders, including community groups.
Technical knowledge in relation to public realm improvements.
Technical knowledge in relation to sustainable design practices within the built and natural environment.
Experience in contemporary design practices.
