Retail and Merchandising - Seasonal PositionGet the opportunity to work within these dynamic departments at Costco Wholesale Gold CoastSeasonal Position from December 2024 to January 2025Front EndMaintenance/JanitorialMaintenance AssistantProvides janitorial services and general maintenance of warehouse and surrounding grounds. Restocks supplies. Operates rubbish compactor and cardboard baler. Periodically paints and performs routine maintenance throughout the warehouse. Purchases supplies needed for projects. Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous member service.Cleans warehouse floors, offices, break rooms, and restroomsFollows departmental standards for cleanliness and performance of dutiesEmpties rubbish from designated areas throughout the warehousePulls merchandise slip sheets and loose cardboard from sales floorOperates garbage compactor and cardboard balerChecks daily schedule for assigned routine tasks and maintenance repair jobsPaints, replaces bulbs, maintains equipment, and performs routine repairs throughout the warehouseAssists with installing and repairing building displays and fixturesPurchases supplies and parts needed for projectsMaintains grounds outside warehouse including blowing leaves, picking up litter and building maintenanceFollows proper Maintenance and general safety and security procedures, wearing safety goggles when using compactor and baler and product disposalResponds quickly to and cleans up spillsAssists in other areas of the warehouse as necessaryProvides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendorsStocking AssociateStocks and straightens merchandise for sale in the warehouse. Constructs, assembles, and modifies display models. Clears and cleans aisles of empty pallets and debris. Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers. Follows proper safety procedures and standards.Follows merchandising standards and practicesCommunicates with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and prioritiesWrites list of merchandise to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stockingAligns merchandise, collects and returns stray items, and stocks to maintain high merchandise levelsCuts boxes for display/accessibility of merchandise and cuts twine or shrink-wrap from palletMarks merchandise number on unmarked itemsStocks opened cases onto shelvesMoves and positions pallets of merchandiseStacks merchandise from partial pallets onto full palletsWraps/ties and tags pallets to be returned to steelChecks for correct merchandise signsConstructs and assembles display models as necessaryModifies displays for safe handling by members (e.g. bolting heavy equipment, taping blade edges)Pulls loose cardboard and slip-sheets from floorClears the sales floor of debris and sweepsRemoves empty pallets from the sales floor and re-wraps loose merchandiseOperates cardboard baler and trash compactorFollows all safety and security proceduresSpots for Forklift Drivers to keep people out of fall-danger zoneFollows established inventory prep guidelines prior to physical inventoryHelps members to load large items into their cart, directs them to merchandise, and relates merchandise status knowledgeAssists in other departments of the warehouse as necessaryProvides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliersFront End AssistantPacking member orders into boxes, and transferring member orders to a separate cart or flatbed after they have been scanned or keyed. Runs for items as needed. Proper safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times while monitoring a smooth flow of members through the registers.Greets members, helps members load merchandise on the conveyor belt, asks member packing preferences, answers questions, relays information on special promotions, and thanks membersTransfers items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashier scans items, placing barcodes up for the cashier when possibleAssists with getting supervisor verification for high-ticket, Bottom of Basket, or non-transfer itemsPacks member orders into boxes and loads them on a separate cart or flatbedChecks packaging for tampering and reports itAssists members with loading orders into car when appropriateRetrieves items such as boxes, register supplies, and merchandise requested by members to keep lines moving smoothlyMaintains the cleanliness of the register and general Front End area, reports and cleans spills and trip hazards immediatelyWhen needed, retrieves carts and flatbeds from the parking area using a rope with clasping hook, pushing no more than 10 carts at onceKeep front of building cleanFollows proper Front End and general safety procedures and standardsAssist in other departments of the warehouse as necessaryProvides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and suppliersAbility to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery(Maintenance) Hand tools, pressure washer, floor scrubber, leaf blower, power tools, rubbish compactor, cardboard baler and machinery throughout the warehouse, mop wringer(Stocker) Manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, forklift, battery charger, pallets, cart, flatbed, broom, wheeled bin, rubbish compactor, cardboard baler, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, cutter, sticker marking gun, shrink wrap machine, license labels, RF gun, computer, printer, calculator, writing utensils, diamond tester, case alarms, electronic merchandise, cameras, cash register, table top/hand-held scanners(Front End Assistant) Computer, printer, phone, camera, card printer, calculator, credit/debit terminal, cash register, cash machine, copier, table top/handheld scanner, 2-way radio, carts, flatbeds, clasping cart ropes, pallet jack, step ladder, rubbish compactor, cardboard/shrink wrap baler, rolling mop bucket with wringer, large wheeled bins, mop, broom, click counter, personal vehicleQualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess)Education/Training:High School Certificate or higherLicenses/Certifications:NoneExperience/Skills:Janitor, general maintenance or comparable experienceProblem solving and critical thinkingStrong attention to detailCustomer service, sales, membership, cash handling, loss prevention/security or comparable experienceStrong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skillsData entry and data managementBasic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets) and AS400Basic math skills* If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes.
