Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and providing technical leadership to a team of software engineers.
They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.
This role is for an Application Developer/Engineer with experience in application development, mobile software engineering design, and a strong background in mobile-related technologies.
The role involves contributing to the development of capability in mobile technologies.
A willingness to learn and adapt to different technologies and platforms is vital for successful applications.
The candidate must also have experience developing, managing, and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems.
Candidates must have TSPV clearance for this role.
No other clearances will be accepted. Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesApply software development skills and engineering principles to systems that manage access to and control physical mobile handsets as well as emulated devices.Produce detailed component specifications and translate these into detailed designs for implementation.Assess risk and measure compliance with policies and standards.
Understand the implications of new technologies.Ensure project deliverables are in alignment with customer and organisation strategic direction.Work cohesively and flexibly with broader program teams and manage expectations of key business partners and stakeholders.Technical SkillsAndroid emulation; Python; Bash; mobile software engineering; version control systems; container-based platforms and applications.
About the OrganisationThe Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security, and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.
Candidates must hold an AGSVA TSPV clearance for this position.
ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their clearance.
Candidates must be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.
An OSA is an ASD policy requirement to determine a person's suitability to work for ASD.
It requires a psychological assessment comprised of a questionnaire and interview.
Candidates must be prepared to answer questions relating to personal circumstances, financial situation, living circumstances, physical and mental health history including substance use and any civil/military record.
