Austin Pathology provides diagnostic pathology services to metropolitan and regional health networks.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Microbiology Department as a Medical Technician Grade 1 (Year 1 up to Year 8, depending on skills and experience).
About the Microbiology Department: Microbiology utilises state of the art automation and technologies as well conventional manual methodology to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections.
About the role: This position is for a Medical Laboratory Technician (Grade 1) in Microbiology Department, full time fixed term (due to maternity leave).
It is suitable for a candidate with relevant qualifications, knowledge, and experience in a diagnostic medical microbiology laboratory.
Essential knowledge and skills To be successful in this role you must demonstrate: Relevant qualifications, knowledge and experience in a diagnostic medical microbiology laboratory including specimen set up Competency using a range of relevant computer software Good communication skills & ability to work efficiently both independently & in a team Demonstrable time management skills with an ability to prioritise and cope with stressful situations, and changing work environment.
Experience with use of various microbiology laboratory automation systems such as Kiestra WCA, MALDI-TOF, Atellica Urine Analyser, Bactec Blood Culture System, Vitek Antibiotic Susceptibility Test System, BD Max PCR (highly considered) Availability to work 24/7 rotating shifts, through day and afternoon-evening shifts; weekdays, weekends, and public holiday.
Applicants should also be available to work overnight shift if required.
Availability(once trained) to work mostly or frequent afternoon-evening shifts would be considered favourably.
