Principal Project Officer

Exciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Support the Healthcare Improvement Unit in leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of local and system-wide innovative models of care, patient flow frameworks and service enhancement initiatives aimed at improving the quality and value of clinical services in accordance with the strategic direction of the Department.

The role
This role is responsible for leading and managing the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of healthcare improvement initiatives within a complex clinical and operational environment.
The position plays a key role in supporting the Unit by providing timely, expert advice to the Minister, Director-General, and executive leadership on healthcare service delivery issues across Queensland.
Working collaboratively within a team, this role contributes to achieving the strategic goals and priorities of the Healthcare Improvement Unit while fulfilling all responsibilities in line with Queensland Health's core values.

A key focus of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the health sector, from front-line clinicians to senior executives, including the Deputy Director-General, Chief Operating Officer, and Minister for Health.
The role requires highly effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence outcomes in a clinical setting.
Additionally, the position may involve managing other duties as directed by the Directors or the Executive Director of the Healthcare Improvement Unit.
The successful person
To excel in this role, you will need highly developed interpersonal and strategic communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
You should have a proven track record of leading projects or initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare service delivery.
You should also possess an understanding of the processes related to research, innovation and/or quality improvement that drive evidence-based change.

Additionally, you will bring advanced project management expertise, including the ability to establish effective governance structures, prioritize tasks, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines, with a history of achieving successful and sustained outcomes.
Your knowledge and application of process improvement, implementation, and evaluation methodologies within the healthcare sector and ability to think creatively to solve real-world challenges will be key to your success in this role.
