Our client is a global leader in urban and interurban transport, with operations in 15 countries and over 27,000 employees.
They specialise in operating, maintaining, and consulting on transport networks, aiming to provide reliable and efficient solutions worldwide.
In Australia, they are part of a consortium partnering with the NSW Government on a major metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney, delivered under a Public-Private Partnership model to boost the region's economy.
Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of the project portfolio, including contract management, financial performance, and risk management.
This role requires critical interaction with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that contractual obligations are met and that the projects achieve financial and commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee contract negotiations, administration, and compliance to ensure alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
Identify variances and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution.
Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks across the project portfolio.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, cost analysis, and profitability assessments, to inform senior management and project teams.
About You
You have extensive experience in commercial management within the Rail, Construction, or Infrastructure sectors, and a successful track record in delivering projects.
You hold a relevant degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or a related field, with additional qualifications in contract or project management being advantageous.
You possess strong commercial acumen, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze complex issues and devise innovative solutions under pressure.
Preferred Skills
In-depth knowledge of rail transport systems, construction, and infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with project management software, contract management tools, and financial modeling techniques.
Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practices related to contract management and procurement.
