Assistant Director (SME) – Projects and Operations
Full-time TemporaryCloses: 18 October 2024Details: The Canberra Script project team is part of the Pharmaceutical Services Section (PSS).
The Pharmaceutical Services Section has statutory and non-statutory responsibilities to promote the safe use of medicines in the ACT community.
These responsibilities are stipulated under the Medicines, Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 2008, and Public Health Act 1997.
The section is responsible for regulating controlled medicines prescribing and supply in the ACT, in the interest of minimising the risks associated with their abuse, misuse and diversion.
Canberra Script is the ACT Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) system.
RTPM systems provide prescribers and pharmacists at the frontline of healthcare with information about a patient's controlled/monitored medicines prescribing and dispensing history.
This information is not confined to events/transactions occurring within an individual clinic or pharmacy.
Rather, it extends across the entire jurisdiction and thereby provides health practitioners with a more complete view of a patient's medication history.
It is designed to reduce pharmaceutical harm in our community.
The purpose of Canberra Script is to reduce harm and preventable deaths in the ACT community by supporting the safe and effective use of monitored medicines.
Reporting to the Director Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) project, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) Assistant Director – Projects will provide high level of subject matter expertise to the development and improvement of Canberra Script RTPM project, assist managing operational changes ensuring smooth transition of tasks from Canberra Script project to business operations, working closely with a wider range of stakeholders including teams across ACTHD, software vendor, other jurisdictions and the Commonwealth, develop project documentation.
The SME will also have good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work to procedures and be confident working in a high performing team.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Demonstrated experience in understanding business process and requirements analysis within a large and complex service industry organisation, with a strong background in IT or Enterprise Service Management.
Formal qualifications in a health-related field, including but not limited to Certificate III or IV in hospital or community pharmacy services or equivalent and/or formal qualifications in a technology-related field are highly desirable.
Note: To apply for this role as a HP4, applicants must have completed formal qualifications and be currently registered by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a health professional.
Prior to commencement successful candidates may be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 01 November 2024 until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension until December 2025.
This position will be filled at either the HP4 or SOGC level, dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
