Organisational OverviewThe NSW Athletics Partnership (NSWAP) entails Little Athletics NSW (LANSW) and Athletics NSW (ANSW) delivering the first entirely unified and single Athletics offering in NSW in 56 years and has three main components:A single Affiliation structureA single Membership offeringA single Championship and Events pathway.The NSWAP ensures the removal of duplicated membership costs and administration processes, while also significantly expanding competition opportunities and pathways for all members by providing everyone with the best that both LANSW and ANSW have to offer.In conjunction with LANSW, we provide the framework for over 51,000 registered members and participants to enjoy athletics at all levels of performance, working closely with our 230+ member centres and clubs for the best interests of the sport of athletics throughout NSW.As a result of this Partnership, our sport is currently experiencing a surge in popularity and participation, and together we are poised to build on the momentum of this summer to inspire the next generation of athletes and fans and to continue growing the sport in NSW.The RoleAthletics NSW is seeking an experienced and organised Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our team to deliver our Junior Development Program (JDP) in the Centre of Excellence.Reporting to the Manager of Performance & Pathways, you will be a central figure in executing the JDP and ensuring synergy in program delivery across our ANSW training hubs.
The JDP is Athletics NSW's term-based grassroots physical development program aimed at 10-14 year old athletes across multi-sports.
The goal of the program is to create the most adaptable athlete for future success by building the foundations of speed, strength, and power through sound movement skill.This role requires knowledge and skills in long-term athletic development, flexibility, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively balance the needs of operations within the Centre of Excellence.If you thrive in a dynamic environment coaching young athletes and possess excellent communication qualities, we would love to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesDeliver the Junior Development Program in line with the Performance & Pathways coaching philosophy and framework.Directly manage the athletic development of all junior athletes enrolled in the JDP.Communicate with external stakeholders including parents/carers, coaches, medical practitioners, and dietitians to provide feedback and enhance the support network of the athlete to ensure athletic progress.Contribute to workshops, webinars, and seminars relating to junior development.Continual athlete performance tracking through movement assessments and utilisation of technology (VALD systems & Microsoft Office).Deliver the JDP framework during Athletics NSW's School Holiday Camps.Any other duties as required as delegated by your manager.Key Selection CriteriaBachelor of Exercise and Sport Science or similar.Current ASCA Level 1 or Level 2 Associate Strength & Conditioning Coach Accreditation.Extensive experience working with Junior/Youth Development with sound knowledge in long-term athletic development models.High energy coaching style with experience coaching group-based training.Excellent skills in Sport Science technologies (VALD systems, Microsoft Office).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Current Working with Children Check and First Aid Qualification.Must be available for weekend work.Athletics NSW is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our care.
