What you'll be doing
We are seeking a talented Storage Network Engineer with strong expertise in Brocade Fibre Channel switches, director-class chassis and storage replication (FC-IP conversion) systems.
This expertise needs to cover both midrange and mainframe (FICON) connectivity to ensure the high availability, performance, and reliability of the storage and networking infrastructure.
This role will involve working on the design, implementation, optimisation, and troubleshooting of Fibre Channel networks, as well as FICON-based mainframe connectivity.
Your key responsibilities will include monitoring incidents, managing issues within SLAs, planning and deploying updates for security maintenance, and assisting with upgrades to improve system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and manage Brocade Fibre Channel switches, ensuring optimal performance and network uptime.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Fibre Channel fabrics, FICON connections, and related network components.
Provide FICON-specific expertise for mainframe and open systems integration, ensuring seamless data flow and network performance.
Perform storage network performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimise throughput and efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Storage, Mainframe and midrange System Engineers, to implement complex network configurations and integrations.
Conduct firmware upgrades and patch management for Brocade Fibre Channel switches to ensure security and stability.
Document storage network configurations, topologies, and best practices for ongoing management and troubleshooting.
Provide on-call support and participate in a rotational shift schedule to ensure 24/7 network availability.
