Please see our Reconciliation Action Plan for more information.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects.2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.Experience working collaboratively with other designers (e.g., UX researchers, UX writers, product managers, and engineers).Proficiency in full-stack development across Android and web applications, showcasing adaptability to diverse technical environments.About the Job:As an Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership to major projects and manage a team of engineers.
You will optimize your own code while ensuring that your team can optimize theirs.
You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team.
Teams work across various areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design.User-Generated Content (UGC), like reviews and photos, is a key differentiator for Google Maps and Search.
We aim to grow the scale and usefulness of these methods of experience-sharing.The Geo team focuses on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, and Google Maps Platform.
Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.Responsibilities:Manage a team of full-stack software engineers while demonstrating technical leadership to strategize the team's execution.Design, guide, and vet systems design within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).Build the team's product strategy and enable the team to maximize the delivered impact with technical expertise.Invest in people to create a positive, respectful, and psychologically safe working environment.
