About the Engagement: We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Developers to join our client's team.
In this role, you will work on mission-critical applications, leveraging your expertise in mainframe technologies to design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable systems.
Your role is integral to supporting [organization/agency's name] in achieving its goals.
Key Responsibilities: Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and other relevant technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Ensure high-quality code through comprehensive testing and debugging.
Optimize system performance by analysing and resolving production issues.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mainframe applications.
Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
Maintain compliance with security protocols, including AGSVA clearance requirements.
Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe development and maintenance.
Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in modernizing legacy mainframe systems or migrating to cloud-based platforms.
Knowledge of tools like TSO/ISPF, Endevor, or similar.
Understanding of Agile or DevOps methodologies.
Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies or IT security.
