Hutt St Centre (HSC) is a place of connection and support, empowering people facing homelessness to rebuild their lives, rediscover their identities, and reconnect with their communities.
How you will make a differenceThe purpose of the Occupational Therapist (OT) is to deliver therapeutic occupational therapy services to older people with a disability or aged related issues who are experiencing or at risk, of homelessness.
The OT program is a part of Hutt St Centre's Aged City Living team and will focus on meeting the immediate unmet needs of people that are homeless who often experience disproportionate barriers to accessing aged care and other related supports and services.
The OT will work with clients whose abilities impact them achieving their independent living goals, access services and/or be included in their communities.
Whilst facilitating clients to meet their short-term therapeutic goals, the OT will also seek to connect clients with long-term aged care supports to assist them to continue to build their individual capacities beyond their experience of homelessness.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role currently contracted until 30 June 2025.
About youWe are seeking applications from experienced Occupational Therapist with a deep understanding of client care practices.
Your ability to engage with elderly clients in a non-judgmental, client-centred way and align with HSC's values is essential.
Essentials for the role:

Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing disadvantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate effectively.
Appropriate Degree or qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA)
National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
A valid full driver's licence.
