Personal Advocacy Service is an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.
Personal Advocacy Service (PAS) was established in 1989 in response to parents who were seeking ways to enrich the lives of their sons and daughters with intellectual disabilities.
PAS's goal included providing opportunities to be included in community life and valued for the contribution they could make to the local communities.
Today, PAS's work is to develop supportive Catholic communities to ensure people with intellectual disabilities have a sense of belonging, make connections, have an opportunity to contribute and grow their spirituality.

As part of the Personal Advocacy Services team and reporting to the Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the mandates are carried out smoothly & efficiently, alongside implementing the work of PAS - developing and supporting Catholic parish communities to provide people with intellectual disabilities a sense of belonging & opportunities to make social connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
Oversee the day-to-day administrative function of the organization, including day to day office management Ensure that agency is compliant and accountable to Archdiocesan policies and procedures, Safeguarding mandates; and regular audits (including Financial, NDIS and NDAP) Regular reporting to Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach Financial Operations
Prepare an annual budget and participate in forecasting, costing, reporting and submissions to Archdiocesan Finance team Monitor income and expenditure against budget predictions and report variances to the Archdiocesan Finance team and Committee of Management (CoM) on a timely basis.
Personal Advocacy Program Development
Review & update strategic plan with Committee of Management Collaborate with Archdiocesan Agencies to provide support to parishes in welcoming people with disabilities into the life of the Faith community.
Develop, adapt and update Enrichment Modules for Volunteer Leaders and Training Modules for Advocates.
Ensure the SPRED program and agency outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities are consistent with the values and objectives of PAS and of the Catholic Ethos Workplace Capacity
Develop a diverse and capable team aligned with the Church's mission and Agency Mandate Regular reviews of the PAS workplace environment - including making sure staff are aware of Archdiocesan policy & updates Oversee recruitment, supervision, appraisal & coaching of staff - including Volunteers Develop succession plan Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops Committee Of Management
Attend all CoM meetings, providing a written report on the operations of the Agency Advise the CoM of any duty of care and risk management issues including all staff, volunteers or clients In conjunction with the Chair, prepare and circulate the agenda for the Committee meetings Ensure minutes of meetings are distributed to members Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Archdiocesan agencies and attend Archdiocesan sponsored events including professional development and faith formation opportunities and social networking occasions Represent the agency at community forums and conferences (i.e.
CCSWA, CEWA, WACOSS and Disability WA) Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in working with and/or supporting people with disabilities Ability to direct and lead a community organization Working knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic Church and its teachings Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role Excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated organizational skills Critical analysis skills and resourcefulness in problem solving Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of training modules Experience in leading team Excellent oral and communication skills Demonstrated experience with NDIS & NDAP Funding Knowledge of funder-service provider relationships Experience in DSS liaison and reporting requirements Clear understanding of NDIS regulatory framework.
Experience in submission and grant writing Ability to oversee and manage financial affairs of the Agency Strong skills in MS Office Suite Current working with Children Check Capability to successfully apply for NDIS workers clearance Valid National Police Clearance Experience working in a Catholic organization Further studies in the areas of Religious Education, Special Needs Teaching or Pastoral Ministry Experience in the development of sustainable community groups Experience in supervising or coordinating the work of volunteers Personal Qualities
