Ensuring a high standard in local government services and economic growth of the area, through sustainable use, development and management of land, water and native vegetation resources, whilst protecting the rights and interests of both the individual and the community.About the Role
This position reports to the Finance Manager Corporate and we are looking for a Finance Manager with 5-10 years' experience in leading and managing a team in all finance functions, such as planning, reporting, budget preparation and investment.
Responsibilities of the Position Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and accounting standards in managing the Council's finances, including the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and audits.Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of financial data to monitor expenditure, revenue, and budget variations, while developing equitable fees and charges.Lead the development of long-term financial strategies and policies that promote financial sustainability and minimise risk for the Council.Manage finance teams and budgets, ensuring accountability, alignment with best practices, and staying informed of trends in local government financial managementSkills and Experience required Tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field, or substantial experience in a similar role.Proven experience in managing financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking in a medium-sized organisation.Comprehensive finance skills, covering audits, policy development, debt management strategies, legislative compliance, and financial planning within medium-sized organisations.Strong ability to manage direct reports, prioritise workloads, multitask, and meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced financial/budgeting software.Benefits Competitive salary package with attractive benefits.Opportunity to gain experience in a local council.Live in paradise where 100 thousand people visit every year to tick off their bucket list.Work in a collaborative team.How to apply
