The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital's catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services, in-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics, and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.
Hospital services include:Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)Maternal/Newborn UnitDiabetes/Nutrition CounselingSpeech-LanguagePhysiotherapyBreast Health CentreFully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.
The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.
Hospital services include:Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverageRehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathologyMultiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local serviceAffiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locallyMany community health related education programsFully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

Description:
Responsibilities:Apply and uphold CNO professional relationship standardsFulfill all duties of the RN scope of practice in the operating room, recovery room and ambulatory careDemonstrate and promote accountability in practicePractice and support teamwork and a positive work environment for inter- and intra-departmental mattersParticipate in daily "Interdepartmental Huddle" throughout the shift as need arisesFacilitate daily workflow of the surgical services departmentCollaborate with team members on complex surgical patients and casesCollaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons on scheduling of OR and surgical on call timeCollaborate with diagnostic imaging and liaise with patients regarding breast screening process specific to the ORCoordination of nursing resources throughout the shift including role, ambulatory care and surgical assignments, break coverage and general workload managementEvaluate available staffing resources to determine the need for additional staff, reductions or cancellations, keeping fiscal responsibility in mindLead the management of nursing schedules in consultation with manager and site-schedulersActively participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiativesApply clinical expertise in the development and review of policies and standards of practice in collaboration with managersMentorship and support for staff in routine or crisis situationsPromote critical thinking and innovative problem solvingManage conflict resolution
Qualifications:
Required:RN in good standing with the CNOUnderstanding of CNO practice standardsExcellent time management skillsExperience in change management. Understanding of LEAN and/or Quality Improvement theoriesCommitment to evidence-based practiceExceptional conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication skillsExperience leading quality improvement initiatives and project managementExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving skillsCommitment to LWHA mission, vision, and valuesWorking knowledge of the Ontario Breast Screening Program an assetMinimum 1-3 years' operating room experienceBCLS, ACLS, Defibrillation and NRP CertificationCardiac Rhythm Interpretation Course, 12 Lead Interpretation CourseOperating Room Nursing CertificationPACU course
Preferred:Formal leadership training, Completion of formal Mentorship programMDRD certification, in progress or willing to obtain within 1 yearPeri-anaesthesia certificationCNA perioperative certification
HOURS OF WORK:
Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays
