Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track.

permanent
role on a 4:3 or 8:6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane/Townsville or DIDO from Mount Isa to Cannington.Reporting to the Principal Safety Risk & Compliance, this position is responsible for providing leadership, expertise, direction, and governance to generate value now and into the future for the Cannington operation.This role leads the ongoing development and implementation of the OHSMS, supports the implementation of a robust safety culture and ensures safety management system processes and systems are maintained, as well as providing governance over system effectiveness
.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:Develop, support, monitor, and improve the OHS Management System for a sustainable framework at Cannington Operation.Support the upskilling of Health and Safety Representatives and delivery of safety rep improvement initiatives.Support the delivery of safety team routines including health and safety communications, awareness campaigns and routine reporting.Offer support and coaching to the operation for the ongoing implementation of the Cannington Safety Improvement Plan.ABOUT YOUYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:Proven track record in current Occupational Health and Safety management and assurance practices.Strong ability to interact with and influence key stakeholder relationships.Demonstrated capability in providing clear and concise reports to key personnel.Background in the resources industry, with operational-level experience as a plus.Skilled in working effectively with diverse teams in multicultural and multinational environments.Excellent skills in data monitoring, advanced analytics, and safety assurance processes, along with experience in managing governance and assurance with a focus on OHSMS.Qualifications for this position are:Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or other OHSMS qualificationLead Auditor qualification or similarSouth32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
