It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community-based health services to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding regions.
Eligibility: To be eligible for this position you must be PGY 3 + from February 2025.
Hospital Information: The Canberra Hospital is a 600+ bed tertiary trauma and referral hospital providing services to the ACT and south eastern New South Wales region of Australia.
It is the principal teaching hospital of the Australian National University (ANU) Graduate Medical Program.
North Canberra Hospital, Bruce is a 256 bed public hospital providing acute and sub-acute services, with our Emergency Department receiving around 55 thousand presentations per year.
Rotations may include:Anaesthetics, Canberra Health Service or Wagga Base HospitalIntensive Care MedicineCoronary Care UnitDuties:Under limited direction you will:
Provide day-to-day medical care for patients of Canberra Health Services.Maintain adequate medical records with legible entries.Participate in the supervision and education of more junior medical staff and medical students.Participate in the after-hours roster as required and in accordance with current safe working hours provisions.Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.Work within and support the multidisciplinary clinical team.Undertake other duties as directed, within the approved scope of clinical practice ensuring the delivery of high quality person and family centred, safe and high quality patient care.About you:CHS is committed to workforce diversity and to creating an inclusive workplace.

Behavioural Capabilities:High level of interest in the teaching of medical students, interns, and residents and a commitment to maintaining personal professional development.Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change in a dynamic medical environment.Position Requirements/Qualifications:Mandatory: Applicants must have General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)To be eligible to apply for this position you must be PGY 3 or above from February 2025.Demonstrate commitment to training and continuing professional development including participation in relevant teaching programs, activities, and feedback opportunities.Current Basic Life Support certification and the ability to obtain Advanced Life Support certification.Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems.Pre-employment Requirements: Undergo a pre-employment Police check.Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening & vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.Key Selection Criteria:Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership where required.Proven commitment to the importance and provision of teaching to junior medical staff and medical students.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, provide leadership, and work in a multidisciplinary environment.Demonstrated ability to pursue both formal and self-directed learning in clinical practice.Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience.Applications must be submitted through the e-recruitment system.
