As our Senior Science Technician, you will provide operational services that protect and enhance animal biosecurity and welfare in Queensland.

You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
Accurately performing document control in accordance with Standard operating procedures (SOP's) and ongoing compliance with relevant quality management system requirements Are dedicated to maintaining Australian Pesticides Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) accreditation Ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables Are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
Mandatory requirements:
Practical understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice.
Vaccination or immunity to Q Fever will be mandatory.
Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination will be required prior to starting with Biosecurity Queensland.
Mandatory qualifications:
A Diploma in a scientific field or equivalent academic qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution that can be registered in Queensland.
For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland residents.

Animal Biosecurity and Welfare supports Biosecurity Queensland's efforts to prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets.
Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.

It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
