In realising this goal, the department will ensure that person centred evidence-based practice is the basis of care, and that research and teaching is standard across all programs under the Mental Health umbrella.
We have mental health services at 4 sites, Austin, Burgundy street , repat and Macleod.
Three are bed based - the others are in the community.
About the role.
The Youth Justice Mental Health Clinician is a specialist senior clinical role combining experience of both the youth forensic sector and the mental health sector.
It will provide advanced mental health care practice formulation and multi modal therapeutic treatment capacity building ICYMHS staff in this area particularly in assisting them to understand youth justice issues.
Liaison and the fostering of connections between ICYMHS and Youth Justice and other key stakeholders is a priority part of the role.
It is a leadership role with mentoring of staff to skill develop their confidence and expertise in this area.
It joins other senior clinicians who specialise in different areas.
eg AOD practice Lead, Infant and Child Specialist.
You will be working with a supportive team of professionals who are passionate about providing best practice care for their patients.
You will enjoy continuing education and quality improvement strategy which is developed through leadership forums and committees.
A regular day may see you; Engage with the staff in the specialist area of Youth Justice.
Support staff in the assessment, treatment and care co-ordination of young people with mental health difficulties who because of these difficulties may be at risk of entering the Juvenile justice system.
Provide primary and secondary mental health consultation.
Provide tertiary mental health educational activities to ICYMHS staff and others.
