About us The Customer Metering Operations Team are building up capabilities and preparing Sydney Water for a large-scale roll-out of smart water meters.
Key to this is maximising the effectiveness and value of new technologies and data.
About the role The purpose of this role is to grow internal analytic capabilities to identify operational efficiency improvement, revenue improvement, and water saving opportunities with smart metering and other data sets.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead the data analytics elements that will be inputs into business cases for further growth and expansion of smart metering and its data-related use cases.
Productionise and automate insight and report generating processes where practical.
Develop analytics tools to support operational improvements, design and planning, inputs to business cases, and water management and conservation.
Develop processes for the operation of analytics and providing reports and insights to stakeholders.
Provide fit-for-purpose analytics services for Customer Billing Accounts & Metering.
Work closely with business stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop best practice analytic and reporting solutions.
Project initiation, problem analysis, scope definition and provision of accurate documentation, as well as identifying potential downstream impacts.
About you Relevant tertiary qualification (E.g., data science, data and analytics, engineering, information management or other relevant fields) or experience deemed equivalent.
Experience in data science, statistical modelling, predictive modelling, or customer analytics.
Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to effectively communicate with Sydney Water personnel at all levels.
Collaboration and team building skills, both in face to face and online.
Ability to capture customer and business requirements and turn them into reproducible and actionable insights.
SQL - Ability to write queries in SQL and understand how to extract data from a relational database.
Advanced Excel ability.
Ability to use statistical programming languages such as R or Python or SAS/SPSS or other to combine, manipulate, aggregate data from various sources to produce meaningful reports.
Data Visualisation & Presentation using MS Office.
Ability to deliver reproducible reports that can be delivered to Power BI cloud that can be run by business users.
Data Modelling Skills - ability to combine both structured and unstructured datasets and manage the flow of the data from various source systems.
