It is one of several programs within the Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS).BNNJN is an early intervention service dedicated to providing mental health recovery and support for children aged 0–11 years and their families. The service focuses on helping those who have experienced adverse life events, supporting them in healing from trauma and its related secondary adversities.This state government-funded facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and accommodates up to three families at a time. Families receive flexible, family-centered therapy and support from specialist clinicians in a nurturing environment.The program takes a holistic approach, addressing children's difficulties within the context of family dynamics, parent-child relationships, and challenges in the broader community. The Model of Care (MOC) at BNNJN aims to provide children with the best possible start in life by offering early support for families facing difficulties, strengthening children's connections to their family and community, and empowering them to make informed choices that promote both physical and mental well-being.About the role:The Senior Clinician will provide support to the Centre Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist in operational and clinical leadership at the Centre. They will lead a multidisciplinary clinical team ensuring a safe and therapeutic milieu on a rostered shift work basis, contributing to specialist therapeutic knowledge and skill in providing trauma-informed care to children, families, and their care systems.A regular day will see you:Providing psychotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions to children and families residing at the Centre.Facilitating group programs within the Centre for children, parents/carers and siblings.Contributing your knowledge and skill set within the multidisciplinary team at care meetings and within care systems.Coordinating referrals and admissions of children and families to the Centre.Liaising with relevant community agencies, providing secondary consultation, training and promoting the service to the wider community.About you:If you are passionate about working with children and families and have knowledge and experience in the use of current theoretical approaches and best practice and enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team and shaping the future of an innovative child and family mental health team, we are keen for you to join usThe successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or other related discipline and have demonstrated knowledge of the mental health, family and community sector service system, as well as proven experience working with children and families.To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working with children presenting trauma-related mental health concerns, and their families.Experience in working therapeutically and systemically with children with mild to moderate mental health presentations.Demonstrated understanding of professional frameworks, theories, and practices as they relate to children and families and mental health.Demonstrated ability and knowledge of a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for both individuals and groups.Willingness and ability to work outside business hours and in an outreach capacity, including early morning and evening shifts, weekends, and possible overnight outreach.Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
