Our focus is to provide practical and tailored solutions across the technical aspects of water management and environmental planning and management.We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced hydrologist or environmental consultant with relevant experience in water management to join our growing Urban Water Management team.About the RoleWe are looking for a hydrologist, environmental scientist, or engineer who has a technical background in relevant fields such as hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science, water engineering and the preparation of technical reports.As our new Senior Urban Water Hydrologist, you'll form a key part of our team.
You will be managing complex urban water management projects from conception through to approval and ultimately implementation and construction, all with the support and encouragement of an experienced team.The role will require you to be a proactive contributing member of a dynamic surface water hydrology team involved in the delivery of hydrological investigations, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, flood assessments, drainage and catchment management, water monitoring, urban water management approvals, water supply assessments, and recycled water quality management.As a Senior Hydrologist you will:Play a pivotal role in assisting a team of hydrologists, water resource engineers and hydrogeologists.Deliver hydrological studies and flood assessments across Australia in the urban development, infrastructure, and resource sectors.Deliver projects in:Surface water investigationsHydrological and hydraulic modellingPreparation of urban water management plans and strategiesMine site related stormwater modelling, flood mitigation and water management planning and reportingThis is a Perth based position and may require occasional travel to field operations as required.What we would like from youWorking in close collaboration with Principal Hydrologist and other peers, your critical analysis of the project scope will lead you to practical solutions which our clients will embrace and are keen to implement.Share your knowledge and skills and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to provide insights to project environmental risk and opportunities.Your previous use of a GIS package (we use QGIS) will allow you to bring your ideas to life and to incorporate them into reports and share them with fellow team members and clients alike.By actively participating in internal and client meetings, you will form a detailed picture of the existing situation and be able to convert this into the desired outcomes.To be successful in the application for the role, you will display:A relevant tertiary qualification (eg.
Environmental Science or Engineering).5+ years of relevant professional experience.A strong understanding of urban water hydrology and hydraulics.Experience in the preparation of urban water management plans and strategies.Experience in the design of stormwater drainage systems, flood mitigation measures and water sensitive urban design (WSUD).The ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team across diverse projects and tasks.The ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy to prioritise and deliver tasks.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong report writing skills.Competent in Microsoft Office packages.Ideally, you will also:Have skills in relevant modelling software (XPSWMM, Infoworks, TUFLOW etc).Demonstrate experience in managing and delivering projects on time, on budget and to a high level of technical quality.GIS experience desirable (we currently use QGIS).Skills and experience in field work, undertaking water monitoring programs, and drilling supervision.Other DetailsPentium Water offers friendly and flexible working conditions within a well-appointed office located in West Perth.
