We have an exciting opportunity for a Boilermaker to assist our operations in Mount Gambier.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the Boilermaker/Fitter is to undertake repairs and maintenance in a safe and professional manner.
Tasks will include welding, cutting, fabrication, product improvement and development, turning, machining and mechanical tasks on machinery plant and equipment, to maximise machinery availability and provide a quality service to Qube operational divisions.

Specific Responsibilities
Perform inspections as directed by the supervisor on all mobile equipment.
Carry out fabrication and repairs as directed by the supervisor on all mobile plant & equipment.
Undertake welding and fabrication repairs as per manufacturers recommendations.
Provide technical engineering advice to reduce systemic failures and repetitive repairs.
Report any equipment breakdowns and damage immediately.
Take all steps to ensure fire risks from engineering activities are managed appropriately.
Ensure all machinery and equipment is isolated electronically before undertaking welding repairs.
Ensure appropriate hot work permits are obtained before starting any hot works.
Ensure all completed documentation is submitted to the supervisor for record keeping.
Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvement.
Liaise with supervision to ensure vehicle inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled.
Undertake any task as directed by the supervisor or manager within the scope of the trade.
Attend additional training courses as necessary to obtain any specific weld procedure or verification of competency.
Participate in any meetings, including any prestart, maintenance meetings and SHS meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
Trade Certificate qualification for Boilermaker Welder/Fitter.
Experience in steel, alloy, oxy, plasma, TIG, MIG and stick welding.
Proven fabrication/MIG welding experience working with structural steel.
Ability to interpret drawings.
Experience with lathe and milling machines.
Experience using hand tools.
Mobile Crane and Forklift High Risk Licence highly desirable.
Physically fit & strong enough to undertake engineering duties.
Self-starter, reliable and a positive attitude.
Good written and verbal skills.
Current driver's licence and own vehicle.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people.
Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment.
Ability to work well within a small team environment.
