We are currently seeking a Data Governance Lead to join our Corporate Information Technology team.
Applications across all states will be considered.
This role will act as the Data Custodian for unstructured data and as the primary Information Manager for all central functions for the hub, ensuring the security, integrity, and accessibility of data assets.

Key responsibilitiesEstablish roles and responsibilities for the information management, working closely with the relevant Functional Lead(s) to ensure alignment and efficiency.Work collaboratively with regional counterparts to prepare, agree upon, and communicate Information Standards and Methods & Procedures, including the documentation process.Ensure that Data Classification is consistently applied across projects and central functions and is used appropriately within the central functions (shared services).Deliver training to data stewards on data classification, labelling, and data leakage prevention, and provide system support and training for Microsoft Purview.Identify requirements and business cases for new or updated business data classifications and govern the process to introduce new labels into the business.Reporting of Data Classification changes to Data StewardsData Access Management: Oversee data access permissions, to monitor and respond to unauthorized activitiesMaintain a security-minded approach to data, ensuring correct access rights are in place for an appropriate periodData Security Oversight: Implement and manage data security solutions to protect sensitive information from insider threats and cyberattacksInvestigate and resolve data permission anomalies, including identifying and remediating over-permissioned access, leveraging tools like Varonis to ensure data security and compliance.Collaborate with stakeholders to implement sustainable access control measures, addressing recurring permission issues and refining policies to align with business needs and security standardsAbout youAs a successful candidate, you have:
Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention & Detection technologiesKnowledge of data security principles and practices, including data encryption, access control, and data backup and recoveryPractical experience with Data ClassificationPractical experience with file permissionsUnderstanding of data protection regulations and industry best practicesAbility to assess and mitigate risks related to data managementProficiency in documenting data governance rules and procedureWe work hard to create an environment that brings out the best in our people.
