Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council – Cairns QLD The Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council provides a range of services to the remote community of Mapoon and surrounding geographical region.
The area stretches from the southern bank of the Skardon River down to the northern banks of the Pennefather River.
The overall vision of Council is to provide sustainable, respected and vibrant leadership by forming strong partnerships with our community and advocating for regional and local issues.
We are passionate about creating a sustainable future for the people of Mapoon and generations to come.
The Position As a key part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Manager Finance reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for:
Leading and mentoring the Finance team;Ensuring data integrity and appropriate management of Council's financial system to provide accurate and reliable information for decision-making;Financial reconciliations and reporting (encompassing monthly and annual statutory reporting);Coordinating the external audit processes;Driving continuous improvement.This position is a three (3) year fixed term contract and is based in Mapoon.
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered.
The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role you will have: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance Management or Commerce.
Membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or Chartered Accountants Association will be highly regarded.Experience working in a senior level financial position (ideally within a local government or public sector organisation).Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and build lasting relationships.Well-developed planning and organisational skills with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, determine priorities, and meet deadlines. #J-18808-Ljbffr
