This role is key to driving that transformation, creating and executing strategies to modernise our ways of working in collaboration with Traditional Owner groups. You will lead high-impact engagements and agreement making, shaping the future of these partnerships.Your key responsibilities for this role will include:Lead agreement making negotiations with Traditional Owners including the development of approaches to agreement negotiation itemsDevelop and oversee stakeholder engagement strategiesAnalyse and synthesise existing and potential partnership approaches to inform agreement makingRegularly review and align plans to Rio Tinto Iron Ore's strategy, ensuring negotiated agreements meet commitments and regulatory standardsChampion engagement best practices, incorporating Traditional Owner feedback and context, Rio Tinto Iron Ore priorities, and regulationsBuild and nurture relationships with Traditional Owner stakeholders and their representative bodiesPrepare and lead engagements with Traditional Owner stakeholders as part of agreement makingWork across internal teams to support genuine partnerships with Indigenous communities and align with future asset development plansWhat you'll bringYou will bring the following attributes, skills and experiences to ensure your success within this role:Credible negotiations skills with experience leading complex agreementsBachelors' or higher degree in finance, business law, native title, indigenous affairs or other relevant fieldUnderstanding of Indigenous culturesTraditional owner or indigenous peoples engagementStrategic thinking and stakeholder engagementAgreement making and negotiationAbility to partner effectively to deliver outcomesStrong communication skillsCritical thinking and ability to synthesise information into clear narrativeComplex decision making.If you are excited about the role and think you have what it takes but your experience doesn't align 100% we still want to hear from you.What we offerBe recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progressA work environment where safety is always the number one priorityA permanent position working directly for Rio TintoFull relocation provided to Western Australia from elsewhere in AustraliaA competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive bonusComprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate familyAttractive share ownership planCompany provided insurance coverExtensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging optionsCareer development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitionsOngoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing supportLeave for all of life's reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave, cultural leave)To better suit different family needs, our paid parental leave approach gives all parents the option to take 18 weeks of paid leave after a new child arrives – at a time that suits themExclusive employee discounts including hotel stays, banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more.Who we areRio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
