About Austin Pathology / Molecular Diagnostics Department Austin Pathology, Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory utilises a range of conventional and novel molecular technologies (including next generation sequencing) in addition to providing a molecular haematology and solid tumour molecular pathology NATA accredited pathology service. A clinically focussed service provides a high-level of clinical and scientific guidance that is supported by haematologists, anatomical pathologists and molecular scientists.
About the role Ideal candidates should be highly motivated, self-driven and patient-focused, holding a relevant degree and possessing experience in genetics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. Demonstrated experience in NGS data analysis, curation, implementation of software applications to enhance NGS data analysis and clinical reporting would be required.
A regular day will see you: Perform routine molecular assays, analyse, interpret, curate NGS data using bioinformatics tools. Develop and assess bioinformatics workflows for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Comply with Pathology Quality Management Be aware of, and comply with, NPAAC and NATA standards and other relevant standards and guidelines. About you As the Medical Scientist Grade 2, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

Demonstrated experience in NGS data analysis, curation, development and implementation of software applications to enhance NGS data analysis and clinical reporting. Knowledge of bioinformatics workflows and programming languages such as Python & RStudio. Experience in molecular biology techniques, in particular nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, droplet digital PCR & Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a relevant molecular pathology laboratory. Sound knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes.
