The Arc of Northern Virginia promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
For more than 60 years, The Arc of Northern Virginia has represented and served people with IDD, such as autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and rare chromosomal disorders, of all ages and their families throughout Northern Virginia.
Job Summary The Arc of Northern Virginia is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Client Coordinator.
Created in 1999, the Special Needs Trust program has grown to manage financial resources for over 2,000 people with disabilities and pooled assets totaling over $60 million.
The Client Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for Special Needs Trust clients, offering support to our clients and their families when navigating the use of an established special needs trust account.
The Client Coordinator's primary responsibilities include assisting new trust clients in learning how to use their trusts, problem-solving concerns surrounding means-tested benefits and ways to maximize the use of their accounts, providing regular status updates and answering general questions, as well as maintaining records and documentation surrounding these interactions.
The ideal candidate would have extensive experience supporting people with IDD and mental health needs and their families, a depth of knowledge surrounding means-tested government benefits, and demonstrates dedication to supporting people with disabilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Act as a client relationship coordinator and liaison between clients and the appointed trustee Complete routine reviews and oversight of established trust accounts Meeting with families and beneficiaries to guide them through ways to access and utilize a trust account Providing general information and resources on how to disburse from a trust account, as well as how to fund a trust Maintain accurate records within the trust database containing trust details, files and client contact information Provide comprehensive client service support by functioning as an educated resource for existing clients and their families Actively resolve client concerns, navigate cross-agency resources, and provide sustainable solutions to complex issues Build long-term relationships with clients, community stakeholders, and the general public Attend advocacy, community, and education events to build knowledge and raise awareness of the Special Needs Trust program and services Participate in weekly department meetings and monthly all staff meetings Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Strong problem solving, decision making and communication skills, both written and verbal Demonstrated ability to take initiative to address issues proactively Strong ability to work effectively in a team and independently Solid understanding of means-tested government ebenefits and state laws Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Proficient in MS Office Suite 3+ years experience working with people with disabilities Ability to primarily work in person in The Arc of Northern Virginia's office Preferred Qualifications: Solid understanding of means-tested benefits and entitlement programs Proficiency with database CRM concepts and trust management software Professional experience working with people with disabilities Compensation: starting at $50,000 per year, plus a competitive benefits package.
The standard work week at The Arc of Northern Virginia is 37.5 hours.
As an exempt employee, there may be times when working more than 37.5 hours in a work week may be necessary to complete your work.
