Full time Kymera International, trading under Ecka Granules Australia Pty Ltd, located at Bell Bay in northern Tasmania, and a global leader in the manufacture of metal powders, wishes to employ additional maintenance staff:
Mechanical Maintainer / Planner (1 position) Day Role A mechanical maintainer with experience in planning is required to join a small team to assist with mechanical maintenance of the Ecka Granules plant.
Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will need to display good technical ability, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key duties will include: Providing expert mechanical fitting support to the maintenance teamCarrying out preventive maintenance to prescribed schedulesParticipating in a callout roster for out of hours plant supportAssisting the engineering team with improvement project workPlanning and Scheduling Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.Prioritize work orders based on urgency, available resources, and equipment criticality.Schedule maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations.Work Order Management Create, review, and track work orders in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Ensure work orders are detailed, including scope, tools, materials, and safety requirements.Close completed work orders and document outcomes.Resource Coordination Assign tasks to maintainers and ensure appropriate skill sets are matched with tasks.Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers for outsourced work and parts.Manage inventory levels for tools, spare parts, and consumables.Equipment Maintenance Maintain and update asset and equipment records in the CMMS.Plan maintenance activities in compliance with equipment manufacturers' recommendations and operational requirements.Monitor and analyse equipment performance data to optimize maintenance efforts.Budget and Cost Management Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.Prepare cost estimates for major repairs and projects.Compliance and Safety Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.Prepare risk assessments and implement safety procedures for maintenance tasks.Keep records of safety inspections and certifications.Communication and Collaboration Coordinate with production teams to plan maintenance activities around operational schedules.Serve as the liaison between the maintenance team and other departments.Provide clear, detailed instructions to maintainers and contractors.Analyse maintenance performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.Implement changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance processes.Conduct post-maintenance reviews to identify lessons learned.Training and Documentation Maintain updated manuals, drawings, and technical documentation for all equipment.Provide training or guidance to maintainers on new procedures or equipment.Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities.Reporting and Analytics Generate reports on maintenance performance, equipment downtime, and completed work orders.Track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as mean time to repair (MTTR) and mean time between failures (MTBF).Provide insights to management to support strategic decision-making.Qualifications: Completion of a recognised trade apprenticeship in mechanics, fitting, turning or boiler-making.
Experience with pneumatics and/or hydraulics will be highly regarded.
Applicants also need to demonstrate the ability to think logically and troubleshoot process equipment.
Summary of Position: Permanent PositionA 1.5% additional superannuation contribution by the companySalary based on experienceOn call allowanceThis is a permanent position with a nine-day fortnight roster.
