Manager, Griffith Youth Forensic Service Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) Company Description Griffith Youth Forensic Service (GYFS) is celebrating 22 years of operation, funded through a partnership between Queensland Government (Youth Justice) and Griffith Criminology Institute (Griffith University).
Embark on a transformative journey as a Manager responsible for leading the GYFS team to ensure the delivery of high-quality state-wide forensic service to young people who have been adjudicated for a sexual offence.
We are seeking a compassionate leader with a management background in the field (or related field) to guide our dynamic team in providing comprehensive support and therapeutic interventions.
As a pivotal leader in our organisation, you will play a key role in leading and facilitating the strategic and operational planning of GYFS, liaising with the Queensland Department of Youth Justice as well as developing and maintaining excellent relationships in the sector for best outcomes.
The Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Griffith Youth Forensic Service (GYFS) to ensure the delivery of high-quality state-wide forensic service and capacity building activities, through the development and maintenance of evidence-based intervention models, the provision of supervision and consultation to GYFS staff and other professionals, assistance with advanced level clinical management of complex and high-risk cases, and the establishment of collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
About you You will possess a minimum four-year degree in psychology, social work, criminology or a related human services discipline, and registration with relevant professional bodies is highly desirable.
Management experience with Government agencies, such as the Department of Youth Justice, is highly desirable.
In addition to the above, you will demonstrate: Leadership: ability to lead a multidisciplinary team of practitioners/clinicians and support staff, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
Expertise in Adolescent Psychology: in-depth knowledge and understanding of adolescent development, with a specific focus on the factors influencing youth who commit offences of a sexual nature.
Risk Management: ability to provide and contribute to advanced level case management or consultation in relation to complex, high-risk and high-profile cases.
Program Development and Implementation: proven experience in designing, implementing and/or overseeing therapeutic programs tailored to the unique needs of youth with harmful sexual behaviour.
Collaborative Approach: strong collaboration skills, fostering partnerships with external agencies, community resources and families.
Supervision and Training: experience in providing supervision and training for staff, promoting professional development and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.
Ethical Decision-Making: adherence to ethical standards and the ability to make sound, ethically informed decisions.
Cultural Competence: cultural sensitivity and competence, recognising and addressing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of youth and families.
Data Management and Reporting: proficient in maintaining accurate records, compiling data and preparing reports to evaluate program effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement: commitment to ongoing learning and contributing to the latest research, trends and best practices.
What we can offer This is a fixed term (until 31 December 2026), full-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Mount Gravatt campus.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role.
Salary Range A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
