Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy skills.SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies.SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills to establish collaborative relationships.SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies.
Range 2 teachers will be expected to:
Meet diverse student needs through content knowledge and pedagogical practice.Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor other teachers.Provide expert advice on professional learning.Supervise and train student teachers.Assist staff in using data to inform teaching approaches.Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies with structured support, teaching a range of students and classes, and participating in school policy development.
ResponsibilitiesThe role may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individuals;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Undertaking classroom teaching-related duties;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and school activities;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the curriculum areas specified.
