THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Drill & Blast Superintendent, the Blast Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the activities of the blast crews to ensure charging and blasting activities are carried out safely and in accordance with the blast plan.
This is a permanent position, with an 8/6 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensure that the team's Safety, Environmental, Community and Production targets are achieved.Provide leadership, through coaching, mentoring, and support for the professional development of the Blast Crew and the achievement of a positive workplace culture that reflects the Pilbara Purpose.Coordinate the blast crew in all facets of charging and firing of open pit blasts to meet mining priorities in accordance with the weekly plan.Ensure compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures in relation to designing, charging and firing of open pit blasts.
This includes being a registered on-site Shotfirer and Magazine Keeper.Monitor the safety and security of explosives to meet regulatory compliance and corporate standards.Coordinate contractors and ensure quality, training, safety compliance and that contract conditions are maintained, to deliver to budget requirements and corporate compliance.Provide input and feedback in relation to blast design and continuous improvement of the blasting process to maximise productivity and efficiency.Coordinate blasted stocks and ensure mining rates are achieved within plan.Coordinate the maintenance and repair of all equipment utilised by the blast crew to ensure equipment is available when required.Coordinate the utilisation of explosive trucks to maximise truck efficiency whilst minimising costs.Ensure delivery of the weekly and monthly plans is better than Budgeted costs by implementing stretch targets.Identify & address risks impacting the business plan.Ensure quality control processes are in place and used across the business unit.Participate when required in the recruitment and selection of personnel under your authority.Identify, promote and actively participate in the implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement.ABOUT YOU: Three to five years open pit mining or quarry experience.Minimum of two years supervisory experience.Competent in using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word.Dangerous Goods Security Card (or application).PROMOTING DIVERSITY Pilbara Minerals recognises that talented people come from diverse backgrounds, who can contribute to our successes in different ways.
