Position: Nuclear Mechanic As a Nuclear Mechanic, you will supervise, operate, maintain, and administer submarine nuclear propulsion plants and associated equipment.
You will operate and maintain reactor and propulsion mechanical systems, steam systems, and supporting equipment and systems.

Your work will require the highest standards of operational nuclear safety and security.
Your nuclear mindset will be the foundation for the Australian conventionally-armed nuclear-powered submarine enterprise to keep your crew, our people, the public, and the environment safe and secure.

Your training will give you a thorough understanding of reactor, electrical, and mechanical theory involved in operating the nuclear reactor, steam plant, propulsion plant, and auxiliary equipment.
You may specialize further to gain detailed knowledge of reactor and steam plant chemistry and radiological controls.
